The Art of Risk Taking
I just read a blog about risk taking written by Simon Brushfield
(Link found here: http://simonbrushfield.com/creativity-fine-art-risk-taking/ )
I think as an art teacher we are always pushing students to take risks, but I feel sometimes they are not ready for these risks on there own due to lack of skill, knowledge, and confidence. If you push one idea before the other, the fine balance between success and failure leads to lack of confidence, and we loose the idea of life long creative learns. So how do I create risk takers, easy, by first setting them up for success. Set up caculated risk moments where students fill confortable experimenting with materials, after they have mastered a basic art skill. Then we can see that creativity flow!!
